ASL CLUB MEMBERS AT SUU WANT AN ASL CLASS

Dateline: Cedar City, Utah, October 26, 2021. The members of the American Sign Language Club at Southern Utah University unanimously voted for creating a sign language class available for students. Mitch Zufelt, being the president of the club, has direct connections to those who have the authority to create a class. In order for the school to approve the request, there must be enough students willing to sign up for the class. The number of members attending each weekly meeting for the ASL Club has increased every week. A few members have already met with individuals that are interested in teaching the American Sign Language class.

Zufelt explained in the club's weekly meeting on the 26th of October that they “have an opportunity to do something huge with this club.” He continued to state that “we need to keep spreading the word and telling people to join the club. The more we get, the bigger chance we have of convincing the school to create a class.”

The American Sign Language Club at SUU is a new club that started up this fall semester. Without any foundation, they have the opportunity to build the club however they want.
